Eleven walkers, including a number of new faces, enjoyed a glorious day exploring the Cashmere Hills and Heathcote River on this three-hour walk.
Starting opposite Princess Margaret Hospital, the route followed the Heathcote River before climbing into the Cashmere hills, where some of the steps proved quite steep and gave everyone a good workout. Along the way, the group enjoyed morning tea near the Sign of the Takahe, close to the site where the new Erebus memorial is being built. The walk also revealed a number of tucked-away lanes, hidden pathways and steps that would have been easy to miss without the experienced guidance of Marie-Therese and Cecilia.
After winding back down through reserves, terraces and riverside paths, the group returned via Ernle Reserve and finished the morning with well-earned refreshments at the Adventure Park café.
